david penn

I have been painting since retiring from full time work 2007, Most of my work is landscape / townscapes in acrylic with an emphasis on free forms sometimes leaning towards abstraction. Buildings and figures feature in many of my pictures and help to give scale and focus. I usually begin with a sketch either in situ or from photographs to explore the shapes and decide on my focus. I am exploring the use of vibrant colour at the moment and drawing inspiration from Cézanne in particular.
